SIREY - Pôle Civil du Tribunal de Grande Instance - Périgeux

The project to rebuild the Sirey building at TGI de Périgueux must take into account three types of issues.

The site : the insertion of a new building in a specific urban environment. The image: where justice gives itself to see. The function : the structure of the building must respect a strict functional parti¬tion, governed by flow principles.

We propose, in a small and constrained plot, a building that is both representative but modest.

If the volumetric partition tends to be integrated into the overall composition, the architectural expression of the new volumes is freed from any attempt to mimicry with the neighbouring «bourgeois» houses.

The Sirey Building establishes a dialogue with the main building by keeping a certain materiality in the treatment of its façades. The corner has a practically opaque white concrete façade, which resonates with the opacity of the palace façade.

The glazed hollow formed by the removal of the second building body is covered with a fine screen of wooden cleats.

The building then offers, to the classical ordering of stone buildings, an «alter ego» of the same size but with contemporary writing affirmed.
