BEL AIR - 68 logements sociaux collectifs - Bègles

This project is located in the recent district of Terres Sud in Bègles where the residential blocks are «landscaped parks», devoid of cars (multi-storey residential parking).

Our first thought focused on the concern of transition of scales, urban transition between the dense existing housing 6 levels high and the individual habitat grouped on the southern edge: thanks to a play of fragmentation of the volumes spread over 4 to 6 levels, the project is divided in «large houses» avoiding the housing «bar» effect of social housing conveyed by the collective imagination.

As a transition from public to private space: the entrances and external distribution corridors are imagined as semi-private spaces and easily appropriated.

Thus, each of the 68 apartments from 2 to 5 rooms has a multi-orientation view, optimal brightness and pleasant loggias.

Thanks to a combination of full and empty spaces, the white mineral façades, which allow to optimize the solar input and to manage the vis-à-vis, allow to see in depth an interior skin decorated, which revisits the traditional cement tiles used in local shops and homes.
